Dedicated to a healing journey of mind, body, heart and spirit for women survivors of childhood sexual, physical and emotional abuse.

Once I was asked as an experienced therapist, what issue all survivors might have in common.  The area of "intimate relationships" came to mind.  I then fine-tuned this general area.  Finally, an answer came: 'The ability to love another person with a full heart, not an empty one.  Why? Because we emerge from childhood with lonely, empty and longing hearts.  What do we do?  We search unconsciously with a child's logic for the "right" man or situation to make us happy and whole.  Usually, we only meet more pain.  Why?  We need to do a difficult act.  We need to hold still and take care of ourselves.  As women, we can now love and cherish the child within and the woman we have become.  We need to heal our damaged areas.  Self-love is a long process which allows us to then love another fully and well.'

"Providing therapy for survivors is rewarding for survivors like myself who area survivors too.  I've practiced for 18 years....

"Joy is giving my client the initial hope that the dark days do end.  I count it a privilege to enter the process of another person, and especially to be there when she begins to see her own strengths and courageous spirit....

"Then it's only a matter of guidance.  Every human being on this planet has a unique process ready to unfold."

DOES CYBER-THERAPY WORK?

My Answer is yes!  Research tells us it works.  I am deeply convinced it works well for survivors, because my long experience tells me there are many techniques and modalities for treatment that do not require us to be together in person.  There are also ways to structure local resources should you be far away from me.

WHY IS THERAPY EXPENSIVE?

Conventional therapy costs the consumer more because managed care has cut mental health coverage.  Survivors need long-term initial therapy. Then these clients need what I term "tune-ups" as new life issues come along.

I offer clients who come to my office a sliding fee scale commensurate with my cyber therapy fees.  But as you've guessed by now, counseling survivors is for me a "labor of love."  Standard fees for licensed therapists overall are $70 to $120 an hour.  It may cost $35+ an hour to see an intern at a non-profit center or university campus.

However, "when God closes a door, He opens a window".....the internet and new technology lowered the cost of equipment needed for delivering telemedicine.  The State of California now allows licensed therapists to practice on-line therapy.  It requires therapists to inform clients of many issues and outcomes.  You may click on this on-line therapy ethics link now or return later.  Be sure to read this important information.

A FREE BONUS FOR SURVIVORS

Over the years in working with survivors in my office, I ask them to do various assignments at home between sessions.  The client then brings me their assignment the next session.  This "homework" is designed to go to deeper levels of awareness.  I utilize such modalities as art therapy, journaling, collages, inner child dialogues, guided imagery (from my cassette recording).

My cyber-therapy clients will also receive the benefit of these assignments.  You simply email or snail-mail your completed assignment to me.  I will share my professional time).  If you wish your work returned, the postage to do so will be added to your session fees.
