GROUPS ARE A GREAT SOLUTION...CALL TODAY! Hallowell and Ratey feel groups are the best form of therapy for adults and children. Individual psychotherapy usually doesn't work because so many challenges of ADD come up in larger settings. Conventional group therapy is not a real answer. Adult support groups and group therapy dealing with ADD issues are highly recommended. ADDULT SUPPORT GROUP This group meets weekly on Thursday evenings, 7 to 9 p.m. The group is led by Linda Lose, LMFT and is designed to provide education and support. The fee for the group is $10. The location is at Linda's office at 1305 Bullard, Suite #11. The group is now forming, get on the list, call (559) 438-3021. COMING SOON! CHILDREN'S GROUP I love to work with ADD Kids! I agree that children gain a great deal from a small group setting where other children are ADD. Sharing is valuable to deal with feelings of being different. My groups are small--not more than 6 children--(roughly ages 6-10) depending on maturity. The group meets for 3 sessions and has an experiential format where the children learn coping skills by actually "doing" using multiple modalities. One group project is creating a brain from which an awareness of ADD, R-Mode, L-Mode is developed. Right brain processing is experienced as the children take part in drawing, guided imagery, kinesthetic and musical activities. The theme is to empower and learn skills which can be transferred to a child's world--classroom and home. This group will be forming in September 2004. COST: $15 per group or $40 (if paid in advance). A $10 deposit needed to secure your child a place in the group. ©2004 ADD Pathfinders |
